The digital society is fragmenting into ever smaller, often more vocal and uncompromising groups. Collective interest tends to fade in the face of sectoral or individual satisfactions.
The rapid developments in artificial intelligence systems may further amplify these effects on society.
This is an important aspect to consider when examining the role of the media—particularly public service broadcasting—and the ongoing changes in the Swiss media landscape.
